What more do we have in Jesus Christ? We have the victory here, and now.

What victory do we have? We have the victory over the world. The world is opposed to the values of the Kingdom of God. Those who are born of God understand this clearly. The yielded believers have present victory over the world because they are in Christ, and Jesus Christ has overcome the world. The Jesus’ victory over the world is in the past but is our present experience in Jesus Christ.

“’I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’” John 16:33, NIV. The troubles in this world are always in the present. The victory over the world, however, is in the past. Jesus overcame the world while He was in the body here on earth. By trusting Jesus, or by faith in Jesus, His victory over the world becomes our present experience.

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” 1 John 5:4, 5, NIV. If we believe that Jesus was sent to be the Savior of the world; and if we believe that He accomplished everything He was sent to do, we have the firm assurance that the enemy, the Satan, does not have power over us here and now. John supports the above conclusion. “We know that everyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him.” 1 John 5:18, NIV. Let us then hold on to the victory.
