To Fight or Not? (5)

Who is our enemy?

Our enemy, the Satan, is neither human nor a human-like being. He is a spirit; he is not made of matter. He is the highest order of intelligence God ever created. He is more powerful than any of the countless intelligent beings. He is more intelligent and possesses more knowledge than all the created orders, or degrees of intelligence put together.

Lucifer is an angel who became adversary (Satan) therefore, he is a spirit. “are not all angels ministering spirits…” (Hebrews 1:14, NET). God, through the prophet Ezekiel, told us that Lucifer, the shining one, is a “covering cherub.” The winged cherubs covering the arc of testimony in the earthly temple represented, symbolically, the covering cherub on the mountain of God. Lucifer was such an angel before he rebelled against God. “’…You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; …You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the fiery stones.” (Ezekiel 28:12 – 14, NIV).

The “guardian cherub” an unimaginable Force, was so intelligent, with so much wisdom and knowledge that he concluded he did not need God, but should be sovereign as God. However, God is the only Sovereign; there is no other. The successful eternity could have only one Sovereign, not two, so God expelled the Lucifer, the Satan, from the mountain of God. The created intelligence could not be sovereign. Lucifer, in the garden in Eden, enlisted the newly-created humankind into the rebellion against God. If we were not able to defeat Satan in the garden in Eden where everything was good, how could we overcome him here and now?

Is there a way out of this impossibility? The answer is in the blogs that follow.
